MASTER'S LICENCE
Effective January 1, 2007, all electrical contractors in the province of Ontario will be required to have an ECRA/ESA Licence. The objective is to improve public safety, eliminate duplication of multiple licences, etc., while addressing elements of the underground economy in the electrical contractor sector.
This will be the only electrical contractor licence recognized in Ontario :
SMOKE DETECTORS
It is the law that a working smoke detector shall be installed on each level and outside of all sleeping areas of a residential building. Electrically operated detectors are reliable, require minimal maintenance and give you peace of mind. They should also be interconnected (so if one sounds, they all do) and have the option of a battery backup if the hydro does go out. With any smoke detector, test on a monthly basis and replace if the unit is over 10 years old. If you are the least bit uncertain of the age of the detector, replace it.
